It's My daughters first science fair! I don't know what to do! Can any of you name some projects we can do (besides a volcano)? It can be any topic.

  1. May I suggest the old fashion potato battery? Or if you want to be a little creative what I made on my first science fair in 3rd grade five years ago, a metal detector! (It doesn't seem too hard!)

Materials: A handheld AM radio, regular calculator, and tape.

    How to:

    1. Tape the calculator to the AM radio

    2. Turn them both on.

    3. Change the k**b all the way to the right. (Change to an unoccupied radio station of the AM radio)

    4. Get metal object to test it! You should hear a high pitched squeeking noise when you get close enough.

Note: Radios must be taped as close as possible around the calculator. Therefore this device would work better if the radio and calculator were flat.

I wish your daughter good luck
