I'm going to San Francisco in a week. I know they have great seafood on the wharf and great chinese food in chinatown. If you know any good places on the wharf or in chinatown I would love to know.

  1. i always go to the old clam house on bayshore for seafood or tadich grill on california

i think the wharf is a rip off

  2. It's just a rumor.  There aren't any decent restaurants in San Francisco.

Actually......the best seafood restaurants aren't on the Wharf (they're for the tourists) and Chinatown......(I used to work in Chinese restaurants as a kid in central Cal)........scares me.

The restaurant scene in S.F. is amazing....things change almost on a daily basis.   Check with your local bartender and ask he or she where they go.   I've found some great restaurants using that method  (Bartenders know everything)

  3. My favorite Chinese place isn't in Chinatown but it's worth checking out, San Tung on Irving.  I love their shrimp/chive dumplings and the hand-pulled noodles.

  4. any place in chinatown, or you can go to Cheung Hing on Noriega

  5. If you want to try some of the best seafood in the city then don't go to the wharf.  One of the best places I've been is on Polk Street and California, it's called "Swan Oyester Depot".  SOOOO good!  Best clam chowder, crab louie salad, etc.  For Chinatown I would suggest trying "House of Nanking".  It's like the best chinese food in the city!
