  1. Your IQ seems to be OK, but get above 125 and you'll be in the top 5%! (you could end up being an eminent professor).

I play on Yahoo Games and get better each games.

The more you play, the better you get and if you study one of those numerous books out there, you could even become a Master, if this is what you want.

  2. IQ is irrelevant.  Its an aggregate statistic.

Here is a great site for improving your chess skills.  I

    http://chess.emrald.net/

It automatically determines your chess ranking, and it gives you problems just above your level.  By practicing there, you improve.

  3. Try this site ...

    http://www.playingchess.net

You can play online for free, learn the rules, tactics and strategy.

  4. http://www.chesscorner.com/tutorial/lear... is not bad.

  5. Hm.. Just play on Yahoo games, and you should get better.

    Watching other people always helps.

  6. Ok, first of all, you IQ is probably not 124.

You got it from a IQ test over the internet, right?

Those test give me a 160 IQ, which would place me somewhere near Einstein.

    Then..

If you want to improve your chess skills, play, read, and play again.

When you lose a game, play it again versus yourself.. try to figure out why you lost. Try to find the very move that sunk you. It's rarely a big stupid move like throwing your queen away to get taken by a pawn...

It's usually.. just taking something with a pawn, allowing a way for the opponent's promotion.. not controlling the center enough, allowing him to take it...

  7. go to www.uschess.org and click on new to chess, it's the unite states chess federation's website, lots of info
