I've been checking out you-tube but it doesn't seem to be worth a d**n.some videos are even saying DON'T stretch befor a run,and i know thats just wrong.

i normally stretch for 10 minutes before my run but it still takes me at least 3 miles of running to start feeling warmed up,and if its not a sore leg this week, its a sore knee or ankle and so on.

this is annoying as i know i'm loosing most time in the first few miles.

thanks in advance people.

  1. I advise you continue your stretching for 10 minutes- BUT just before you do this run a quick run of 400m/800m = This is what we do at our school to help us warm up. We then stretch and have no problems during the whole of our lesson. Its very good.

ALWAYS strecht and NEVER run for too long before stretching. Those videos are just stupid and are never that clever so pleease I beg that no one takes them seriously.

  2. Your supposed to stretch for 10 minutes before you do any exerice. I advice doing a light warm up, stretch, then go. i also advice strtching after as muscles can relax quickly and you can end up with pulled muscles

  3. Stretching has been shown to be most beneficial when done after the muscles are warm.

Do a light warm up to get blood flowing to your muscles, then take the time out to stretch before the bulk of your workout. I would also suggest stretching after you are done with your workout as well.

  4. make sure you do a light jog for about half a mile to a mile and plenty of stretching of yur calfs and hamstrings !

  5. During xc we ussaly jog around a field or go about 1/2 a mile then we stop and stretch. Do things such as toe touches and butterfly with the legs and arm stretches, and circles with the ankels. Then  we do our long distances running. After that we stretch again but for longer and do diffrent sit ups and things for the abs.

            hope this helps
