Any good surfing spots for beginners near Solano County, CA?

  1. Solano's quite a ways inland so not much in the way of surfing there.

    A good beginner spot is Steamer Lane (Cowell's Beach) in Santa Cruz. It's about a 2 hour drive south. There's rentals nearby so you don't even need to bring your gear.

    Ocean Beach in San Francisco is probably the closest but it's not necessarily good for beginners.
