Some colleagues of mine are hoping to arrange a tea party for young women professionals in London. The turn around is expected to be between 50-80 people. Do you know of any good venues in London? this can be hotels or cafes..

  1. hi there from the UK!

the BEST places for ladies are:

SKETCH (Conduit Street) combines traditional tea maids with contemp. space age art! (slow service but fab atmos)

WOLSELY Picadilly for more genteel setting but bustling because of the high ceilings (expect to see celebs everyday!) no booking either ..the advantage here is the numbers in your group will be seated somehow

Fortnum Mason (dept store) maybe if the group was smaller

Liberty (dept store) maybe if the group was smaller

    Claridges hotel

    Lanesborough hotel

and obviously The Ritz although I find it a bit stuffy and pretentious...expect sneers if the group are too excited...!

finally "high tea" will cost about $60 plus service

    hope you have fun!

ps in "Ugly Betty", the restaurant "Madison 6" is featured, does this restaurant exist or is it a pastiche?

  2. Most upscale hotels offer a fab tea service...the Ritz is particularly known for their afternoon teas.  Other options are the Dorchester, Claridges or for a more affordable option, try one of the many salons at Harrods.

And Harrods has the BEST tea to buy.
