Any good video capturing software from my webcam?

Im looking for one that does not create HUGE avi files.

  1. It's not the capture software that's the problem, it's the fact that MiniDV (I assume that's what you're using?) is a lightly compressed format, so you're going to have large files.  This is a good thing as it makes your editing better and easier and keeps the video quality high.

    If disk space is a problem for you, you should consider adding another disk.  This is worth doing anyway as it's quicker to write data from one disk to another rather than writing it on the same disk   - e.g. rendering your finished movie from the raw video you captured.  Another thing to look at is only capturing the stuff you need - 90% of what you (and everybody else) film will be c**p!  There's an app called Scenalyzer which will make a high speed preview of what's on the tape and then capture just the selected footage.
