Any great cheap travel destinations for a couple?

We want to go somewhere in the United States in October. Nice weather. Low key but relaxing and fun. We are in our twenties and just want some resorts to stay at from October 16th to October 21st. Any ideas or recommendations are appreciated!

Good places that have mild weather in October would be Southern California, Coastal Texas (South Padre, Galveston, Corpus Christi, Houston) or  San Antonio and Austin. Florida and the Florida Keys should also have good weather.  And there is always Hawaii.  We love the Grand Wailea in Maui but I wouldn't call it cheap!  The desert states have really good weather also (Arizona, Nevada).  Sedona, Arizona is a beautiful place to visit.

As for places to stay there are tons!  My best advice is to use one of the big on line travel companies and select the dates you want to get some ideas.  Any of the resort areas like San Diego and Miami Beach typically book up quickly.  You can also search for vacation rentals in the area you choose to save some money.

The Del Coronado in San Diego is nice, but pricey. We went to stay there 2 years ago and they were building condos in front of the hotel.  We moved to a different hotel because all we could hear was the jack hammers!  So check to be sure the construction is done before you reserve.

Another option for cheaper travel is a travel membership.  Many offer weekly vacations for $149 and up for a whole week.  You pay a membership fee to get access to a list and select the ones you like.  I know of a plan that is selling currently for $498 for a lifetime membership with world wide access.  See more here:  www.morbiz.com/empirebuilders

To reduce your travel costs, consider staying in a Vacation Rental.  They can be cheaper than hotels, and you can save money by makig your own meals.
