  1. A typical helicopter flight school might pay anywhere from $20-$50 per hour depending on your experience level, etc. Note that you usually only get paid when you are actually flying or teaching. As a result, you may only have 2-3 hours of billable time on any given day. If students cancel, or if it rains, or if you spend time doing other duties like cleaning the aircraft, or if the school has a slow period, you don't get paid for those times.

If you have a decent month at a reasonably busy school, you might get 100-120 billable hours in. Some schools are really busy and you can get a lot more. Other schools are really slow and you get a lot less.

There are a very few schools out there that pay their instructors a monthly salary. Those operators typically are very busy and/or they have a lot of commercial work in addition to flight instruction. They will be more likely to take someone who trained with them or someone who has several hundred hours of experience instructing rather than someone who just finished their training. You might make up to $30K-$40 at an operator like that.
