Question:

Any help for orphaned email groups?

For older yahoo groups, they sometimes become orphaned by the person or persons who started them and then spontaneously revive. If the person the ownership has defaulted to is unresponsive, the people currently in the group have no way to reset anything, including turning on the spam filter. Is there any help for reinstating ownership in someone who's interested in the group?

  1. Well, the only way I see that can be done is to get the owner/creator to give over moderator rights to others who are interested. I don't believe it is possible or very likely to get Yahoo! to intervene unless there's a great public interest in keeping the group alive despite the founders lack of administration.
