Question:

Any help regarding getting my baby to settle?

I know I keep posting questions on this but I'm begining to really struggle.

I have a 4 1/2 month old baby and she can roll over fine from back to front but not as easily from front to back. At night she wants to sleep on her side but ends up on her front and it wakes her up. She screams and screams so we put her back on her side / back but she will roll straight back to her front.

She hates to be on her front and I'm getting up A LOT during the night to re-settle her. She does not re-settle herself and just screams. Any ideas as I'm getting really frustrated now?

  1. practice balance with your child if she is strong enough to pick her self up it will help, also put a tick blanket in front of her so she cant roll to her front also at her back so she stays on her side.

  2. Since she's rolling over, I wonder if a sleep positioner would work. We used one with our oldest son, but it really only was effective for him when he was a newborn. Once he was around three months old, he moved too much in his sleep.

Would swaddling work? My nephew hated the open feeling of his crib, and actually slept swaddled until he was almost six months old.

  3. Have you tried a sleep positioner? They have removable foam parts on the side so you can move them closer or wider as needed. You could lay her on her side on it and put the foam pieces tightly against her front and back to help hold her in place. Or you could roll up a receiving blanket and tuck it under her front to help hold her on her side.

I gave you a link to the one I have. I was able to keep my son on his side with it. Does she like to be swaddled? I know that helps my son stay settled at night.
