Any hotels you can book for Under 21?

I'm 20 and trying to book a hotel in the Syracuse, Liverpool, NY area. In general, most hotels are 21 and over to check in. Do you know of any chains or places that are 18? Thanks

  1. My husband and I traveled out west at the age of 20 and we didn't have a problem checking in even though we were under 21. We just told the people, "look, we're tired and we need to stop for the night. We're not going to have a party here or anything" and they let us stop for the night. As long as you let them know that you're not planning on partying or being loud they'll let you stay. Most places photocopied our drivers licenses in case we left the place a wreck.

Most hotels have the 21 rule because they don't want a bunch of 18 year old kids going to hotels and partying since they can't do it at home around their parents. Really, the only places who don't have the rule are the small motels that aren't in a chain and are run by families.

Another idea would be to have your parents book the hotel for you. My mom booked us a room in Texas while we were driving through as a gift and we didn't have any problems. She just told the person over the phone it was for her daughter.
