  1. wow...  brave!

well, you should really bite the bullet and have a pro install it!  this is not a project where you can make a mistake, and just try again.  improper installation causing damage will end with you having to buy a new boiler, AGAIN...  There is a TON of information you don't have access to, and i'm not about to write a book here...  i went to school for 3 years to install these things.  aside from that:

call the pros.  but call more than one, and get estimates.  talk to your friends and family in the area too, and get any opinions they have.  choose carefully which contractor you use!

  2. Buy it from a reputable dealer and have them install it. This is NOT a DIY project!!

  3. In most areas only a LICENSED PROFESSIONAL can install a boiler. This is not a DIY project, improper installation can lead to an inoperative system, and can be a fire hazard or worse. Again this is not a DIY project.

  4. Hi. I would have the boiler replaced using a reputable contractor. I know it is expensive but it is worth the warranties. If you install it and not install it correctly most all manufacturers will not warranty the product due to 'improper' installation. I have had numerous boilers installed and sadly about one in five give me problems.  The manufacturers have really good warranties and they like working through regular contractors. It is good for both of them as the contractor knows the boiler company will back them up and the manufacturer knows it will be properly installed. If something happens it is reassuring to just pick up the phone and know that a resolution will happen without adding cash. Sorry.

  5. To replace water heater, turn gas ‘OFF’, turn water ‘OFF’.

Drain the water from water heater.

The drain of water heater is located on water heater front bottom.

Hook a garden hose to water heater drain and open drain valve.

Open one or more hot water valves on faucets in your house to allow water to drain from water heater.

It will usually take 20, 30 minutes to drain water heater.

When there is no more water to drain, close drain valve.

Disconnect the water lines from water heater, disconnect gas line.

MAKE SURE TO TURN GAS OFF BEFORE DISCONNECTING GAS LINE! Disconnect the metal strips that hold water heater to the walls, if there are some.

    Remove the old water heater.

You may want to lay down something on the floor before moving out the water heater, it might drip some water and rust.

Place new water heater, connect water lines and gas line.

    Secure it to walls.

    Check gas line for leaks.

    Fill water heater with water.

Open the water shut off valve, open hot water valve on some sink facet.

When water comes out of sink faucet, water heater is full.

Light pilot light on your new water heater and adjust the thermostat.

Check for water leaks again when water is hot.

The hot water line connection is more likely to leak when water is hot.
