The Coolpix P50 is a compact camera with 8.1 million effective pixels and 8.29 million sensor photo detectors. It has a 28 -102 mm (3.6x) zoom lens. It has a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 and a minimum resolution of 340 x 480. The camera carries a CCD sensor of size 1/2.5" and the colour filter array is RGB. On the technical side, the camera has a 3x digital zoom, auto focus, white balance override, aperture range of F2.8 - F5.6, built in flash, exposure compensation, metering, continuous drive, movie clips, self timer, video out, and USB 2.0. The camera is capable of storing images on the SD/MMC/SDHC card internal card in JPEG (EXIF 2.2) format. The internal storage included is 52 MB. The camera does not have a viewfinder, but has a LCD screen of 2.4" that has 115,000 pixels. The camera weighs just 210 grams with two AA batteries. The dimensions of the camera are 95 x 66 x 44 mm (3.7 x 2.6 x 1.7 in)
