  1. PHILLY PARK JUST GAVE THEIR JOCKEYS A $100.00

PER MOUNT FEE...THE TOP PAY IN THE NATION....

MOST TRACKS PAY AROUND $60.00 PER MOUNT..

AND 10% OF THE PURSE..1ST THROUGH 5TH IN MOST CASES.

  2. At most tracks Jockeys are paid 45-55 dollars a mount.

10 per cent of that goes to his valet, 10-25 per cent goes to his agent.  At most tracks the Jockeys receive 10 per cent of what the owner makes and that is not assured. Most jockeys are not millionares.  Maybe the big name jockeys but not the small track jocks. I will say about 2 percent of these jockeys have put some money away. In a million dolloars race, if they win the race, the Owner will make 55-60 per cent of the million dollars, second will get you about 25 per cent and they also paid 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th places.  So no the jockeys do not make as much as the public thinks.

The tracks pays everyone involved.  It trickles down from there.
