Any idea on why I have red color water coming out of the shower

Its only in the beginning 3 seconds or so, but returns when I turn off the shower, but comes back when I turn it on. This does not happen when I using the spout in the tub, only with the shower. It also does not smell like rust. Thanks.

It absolutely sounds like rust to me.  It is very possible that it is coming from the connection to the showerhead (or the showerhead itself), since it is not coming from the faucet.

Try replacing the showerhead (VERY inexpensive) - it SOUNDS as though there could be standing water in the head that is rusting, when you turn on the water, it is ridding itself of the old, standing water first - which is why it's only red for the first few seconds.

very good possiblity it is rust - I've never been able to smell rust in water.
