The one depicted on the partition with the bird. They don't look quite like cherry blossom, magnolia, or acacia. Any ideas? I'm trying to colorize this photo for a contest and want to be as accurate as possible.

  1. My guess is it is a camellia, of a single or a semi double variety. The center of the flowers look similar but the leaves seems a little too long though.

  2. orange blossom

  3. It is an imaginary plant. Color it the way you like.

  4. The tree has a five petaled flower so it  indicates the Prunus genera trees.  The long pointed leaf looks more like a cherry rather than a plum. Perhaps the Prunus serrulata before the modern double flowered cultivars were developed.

Prunus avium the bird cherry would be a very appropriate choice

Plum was one of the four plants of virtue but they flower before they leaf out. Prunus mume can be pinkish or white.

The Asian phoenix is said to alight only on the paulownia tree or foxglove tree. The paulownia bears fragrant purple flowers, though often depicted as white they are tubular not five petaled. Your image is just not using the classic form of depicting the plant.
