Question:

Any idea why my indicators no longer blink?

Just bought a second hand 57 reg moped today. Taking it out for a spin and its fantastic.

Later on, took it out again, and half way round I noticed my indicators stopped blinking. When I switch to left, the left bulbs light up, but don't blink, just steady, same with the right bulbs.

Anybody got any ideas what may be causing this, and more to the point, how to fix it...

Thanks

  1. Sounds like a relay's gone.  If you can't find it, try asking whoever you bought it from, or nip to Halfords and sneak a look at the Haynes manual.

  2. If one of your bulbs blows then your other bulbs in that circuit will flash faster,

But if they light up but dont flash that means the relay needs to be replaced, the relay is the thing that goes off and on so it flashes.

  3. on mopeds most work through the battery, trust me its true.  so i have one wquestion does the electric start work/ horn.  if not charge the battery and your indicators will flash again.  if this is not the case then yes see above,  check flasher.

  4. If the light stays on it is usually a burned out bulb.

If you have nothing on either side, it's usually the sender unit that's gone out and will have to be replaced.

  5. change the flasher unit they r only a few pounds

  6. Either a bad ground or a bad flasher unit.

  7. flasher relay or poss not enough power? turn every thing off except indicators & engine rev bike if they flash its  a low battery or alternator not puttin enough out

  8. Flasher relay is favourite. They're a doddle to replace.

  9. Flasher relay or low voltage can cause it

  10. Most likely burnt out bulbs.

    Next, flasher unit fail.

  11. flasher relay ?  or poor wiring connection ??
