Question:

Any idea why wasps are all around my fruitless mulberry?

It isn't blooming right now but there seem to always be wasps all around the leaves. This will last pretty much all summer. We trimmed it last year and there weren't any nests and so there definitely aren't any old nests.

In a related issue, does anyone know a method to kill the ants and beetles around my house without harming the lizards and beneficials?

  1. Sap on the leaves?? I am not familiar with the bush but if it has any kind of secretion on the leaves they might be attracted to it. Also if it is hot and you have watered they might be after a drink. Beetles are good for the garden. don't kill them ditto for the ants. What hard are they doing to you

    or the garden.

  2. They may be hunting caterpillars

And there is no way to kill one insect without harming the others, and leaving the lizards with nothing to eat.  Just let them do their thing and you will achieve a balance.
