Any ideas about installing molding around a popcorn finish ceiling-Would it look OK since ceiling is not flat?

my parents house has molding around their poporn finish ceiling and it looks great

you could measure the top of the molding then with a putty knife or piece of wood, scrap off the "popcorn" so the ceiling is smooth

I would say yes, if you are able to fill the gaps between the top of the moulding and the ceiling with some sort of caulk that will decently match the color of the ceiling.  

Otherwise, no.
