Question:

Any ideas about what is wrong with my dog's eye?

We just rescued a 4 or 5 year old female rottweiler. I noticed that the area around her eye does not have much fur and is very very dry. When she is drowsy, I can see that the area below her eye is red. At times she squints with this eye. It doesn't bother her, but I would like to make it better for her. Any ideas on how to help her?

  1. yea, take her to the vet.

  2. well it might be genetic or maybe something got at her eye before she was rescued or maybe it is just a little infection if she starts itching at it or acting funny i would then take her to the vet but it might just be normal and just bring it up to your vet at her next check up.

  3. Not positive but it could possibly be cherry eye. they usually have to remove part of the eyelid. i've never heard of it happening to a rottweiler but that's the only thing i could think of it being.

  4. Just moisten the area with a damp cloth

  5. I would take her to the vet. It sounds like It would do more damage in the future for your rottweiler.
