Any ideas besides theater of fun things to do in Chicago?

I'm planing a road trip to Chicago From July 10-15th and am i looking for some things besides the theater and food to do while im there or on my way there (from Toronto) any ideas? places to stay as well something middle class no more then $125 a night

I live in Chicago and I adore it.

Don't know if you are coming alone or with a friend, but I highly recommend doing anything in the Wrigleyville area. The people are super friendly and there are tons of restaurants and things to do. Maybe catch a Cubs game if you are into baseball.

The Lincoln Park zoo is also something I would make sure to catch. There are two zoos in Chicago, but I suggest the Lincoln Park zoo over the Brookfield zoo.

Make a stop at Navy Pier. They have tons of rides and attractions, awesome entertainment, and a variety of boats and sight seeing cruises that are fun. I am not sure, but I think every Wednesday and Saturday night they have fireworks.

There are a large variety of museums in Chicago too. The Shed Aquarium is a cool attraction. It's the largest indoor aquarium in the world.

you could go to the shedd aquarium, museum of natural history and the museum of science and industry. another cool place to go is the house of blues. they have live music and good food.
