  1. pick an era in history -  maybe the 30s or the 80s

    feather boas

    cinema reels

a red carpet is a must

    mock golden colored awards

music when students come in like star wars

    a director's chair!-= that's yr seat!

  2. I am doing this same theme this year. As far as decorations, I went to www.partycheap.com and found a lot of decorations. I went to www.proteacher.net and found several ideas.

Jobs: Director (teacher), Asst. Director( line leader, leads pledge, assists teacher), Agent(takes pickups materials to/from office, etc.), Stage Crew(cleans up during the day), Script Deliverers(passes out classroom supplies)

Weekly Newsletter: Starworthy News from "Your name".

Reading Area: "Red Carpet Readers"; "Blockbuster Books", "Create a movie in your mind-Read"

Star Student: Spotlight on "Child's Name"

Menu: Coming to a cafeteria near you....

On door: Your name's 2nd grade cast (kids names on stars)

Inside Displayed work: Award winning work

Outside displayed work: Wall of Fame

Writing Center: "center stage writers"-this should be available for you to buy at your local school supply store.

Birthday Board: "Each day a star is born."

Mottos: Setting the stage for learning/success.

I'm rolling out the red carpet on the first day of school.

    I hope this helps.

  3. Wow! I am doing the same thing this year in my class. Here are some of my ideas. For incentives and discipline: I have created a star o meter where the class earns brags and earn a special reward once they receive 25. I have a coming attraction bulletin board to post objectives and learning concepts, My word wall is going to be red and entitled "Rolling Out Words on the Red Carpet". There is a website where you can create movie posters from pictures you have taken with your digital camera so throughout the year I will create these and post them along my wall. I hope some of these ideas help.  Also, go to www.partycheap.com for tons of Hollywood theme decorations that you can use. :)

  4. good ideas so far!

A teacher at my school did this last year. She had a big canvas (like used for school plays) and had the art teacher paint the "hollywood" sign on it, with lights and stuff (like it was being seen at night -- does that make sense?)

she took pictures of her kids that first week of school in front of it. You could use a blank wall, if you needed to. Use their pics and make a large star with their name/picture. hang those around.

You definitely need to have one of those "take one!" board things they always slap together.  You could also put your name/subject outside by your room, and make it look like it is one of those lighted signs, with lights all around.  Your name in lights!

go to your local party store, or look online at party stores -- they have lots of inexpensive hollywood-themed decorations you could use, or at least give you ideas!

  5. red carpet, that's all

  6. Well, you have to have the HOLLYWOOD sign (like the one on the hill in Hollywood) - probably outside your door or behind your desk.  Of course, EVERY child should have his name in lights (little posters like a movie marquee).  Go to your local movie rental place and ask for old movie posters.  Cut off the movie information and make up your own captions for them - you could have one for attendance, one for make up work folders/assignments, one for your classroom management plan (disciplinary procedures).  You know, make up some cool quotes (or have the kids help you make up the quotes).  Like for disciplinary procedures, you could write "Oh, no you di'nt!"  and for make up work, you could write "Yes, we 'did something' while you were absent!  Here it is!!"

  7. Maybe to encourage reading you can create a red carpet pathway leading to an Emmy. Get some red velvet or very deep red cloth and attach to bulletin board, pin small stars with students names and move stars closer to the emmy for each book they read. Perhaps you can find a cutout of a movie camera or action marker (the things they use before filming) to record the name of each book the student has read. In other words, as their star gets closer to their Emmy, they leave behind a trail of films (books) that helped get them to their prize. **If you have a student that is a super fast reader and they reach the Emmy, have them start again.** Maybe as a prize for reaching the Emmy they get a special prize from you like lunchtime with you or a homework pass, pencils, folders, etc.

Look on Carson Dellosa's website; they have a cute film border (CD-3320), Stars (CD-5544), Camera (CD-6904)

    Have Fun!

  8. on the first day of school during art you could have your students make hollywood walk of fame stars with their own name

  9. Have them make their own hollywood star and a walkway to make up hollywood blv. At hollywood blv, they have the hollywood stars as well as the most famous movie theaters in America. Such as: El Capitan theatre (disney owned), Manns Chinese Theater, and the Egyption Theater. On the stars they also have symbols that reflect what they do in hollywood. Hollywood celebs has "stars", tv celebs has a "tv", directors/producers has a "camera reel", and singers has a "record". There are loads of stars all over hollywood. It would be a great art project to do.

At the "Manns Chinese Theater", honored celebrities has a block of cement to honor them. They put their hands and feet into the cement, and write their names. Sometimes they do a little doodle if they want. So what you can do is have your students make their own cement block by using clay (not cement). Do these sound good or do you think these projects aren't that challenging? I personally think it might not sound as challenging, but it is quite educational.
