Any ideas for a baby-safe home?

Okay, here is the problem, my four year old Tommy (Thomas Leigh) is very, adventurous. he likes to get into everything and play with them. I'm expecting identical twin boys, (Emmett Miles and Elliot Mathew) and i need some time to spare with the babies, so i need some ideas to keep tommy out of everything and in his room playing with his ACTUAL toys. i don't have the time to spare with tommy like i did before, and i don't know if he understands that. also do u know of anything that helps make my home a baby/child-safe home? thanks a bunch! xD

  1. i only have one baby but unfortunately i'm not a home owner and we rent from this horrible company. as soon as we've got enough saved we're out of here. anyway, we can't really put any holes in anything so we've had to be quite creative when it comes to making the flat safe for a very inquisative toddler. it gets easier and we're also getting more creative. a lot of things are stored in plastic boxes in wardrobes, things that he just shouldn't have his hands on ever (medicines, chemicals...) are safely locked in suitcases.

i'm not sure how you can apply this to your own home but be creative and you'll be surprised!

  2. at that age, they do not like playing with their toys, everything else is interesting to them. you have to remove everything from the house. thats just the way it is.

  3. Don't let them in. ;)

  4. I had a baby in April and I also have a 4 year old. Trust me he understands everything with regards to the baby. Eg that when Mummy is feeding the baby I won't be able to get him a drink/ play with him. Set aside some Tommy Time each day ( hard at first but when your twins are settled) That way he knows in that time he will have your undivided attention. Save some boxes and put them in his room. Get him to build a fort or a castle. Or you could get a play tent and put it in his room for him to play in. Personally though, I like my 4 year old where I can see him. As for making your house safe, plug covers and cupboard locks are a must. Good luck.
