  1. Assuming that you mean "Back to the Future", the movie, I would get dvds of all the movies as background or if your guests prefer, to watch.  Also, you might want to get the soundtrack for the first Back to the Future movie.  It has a mixture of 80's and 50's music.  It's pretty good.

For food, I suggest making one dish from each era of the movies - 1800's, 1950's, 1980's, and the future (2015).  Tell your guests that you were trying to create what someone of that time period would have eaten.

1800's:  Keep it simple.  Roast chicken would probably work.  Season with only salt and pepper.  Over-cooking the chicken a little might not be a bad idea (I'm sure it was common to overcook chicken over an open fire).  Serve with room temperature tap water.

1950's:  More difficult because some of your guests may remember this period and argue that your dish is not very authentic.  I suggest meatloaf.  Simple meatloaf recipes can be found on foodnetwork.com.  I would get 2 lbs. of cheap ground beef, one small diced onion, 2 or 3 cloves of chopped garlic, 1 16oz. can of diced tomatoes, 1 cup of plain bread crumbs, and 1 egg.  2 teaspoons of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and mix it all up.  Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.  Serve with iced tea or root beer.

1980's:  This should be easy.  Make whatever was your favorite dish from this era.  Mine was pizza.  I'ld probably just order Domino's or Pizza Hut.  Serve with Coke or Pepsi (maybe Tab if they still sell it).

Future:  This should be fun.  Make what you think people will be eating 10 to 20 years from now.  Might want to make a fusion of couple of different cuisines.  Adding some Thai basil, cilantro, bean sprouts, soy sauce, or sesame oil goes a long way making any American dish taste a little Asian.  Serve with any wine and tell your guests that it's really old and rare.

    Have fun with your party!
