My son will turn 11 years old on August 23rd. He's in between hobbies and toys and such so I am having a hard time picking a cake and theme. I don't have much money and still want it to be nice. Any ideas?

  1. If you don't have much money then I would take it into consideration that you shouldn't buy a cake just buy a cake mix & make it.

Seriously though they are SO good they don't taste bad at all & their like 4 dollars.

Then all you have to do is get frosting which is like 3 dollars & your done. Oh & sprinkles too if you want.

Or you could just make a cake from scratch or buy one. If your buying one then you should buy it from Dairy Queen. They have a wide variety of cakes. Or you could just go to Target its your choice.

Another amazing idea for a cake is an ice cream cone cake!

Here's the link for the recipe

All you need is cake mix, water, 2 eggs, vanilla extract, cooking oil & ice cream cones. & then you could put ice cream on top of the cake if you wanted or frosting.

Personally I think that is the best & easiest way. & everyone would love them.

Your going to have to have snacks too. Chex mixes are really good! & they come in huge bags. So you won't run out. Get another one just in case though.

There is salty flavored, chocolate, & sweet n' salty.

Here are a list for party ideas/themes.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

& tell your son that I said Happy Birthday! Haha.

    :)

  2. What you cant go wrong is with bowling or just do a sport theme. you could buy a soccer ball or any other sport he likes cake or bake one.and rent movies and have a raffle just grab a bowl and some confetti and write the kids names on them.

  3. I would ask him what he's into and what kind of party he would like to have.

  4. key board which will cost anything between50-60 dollars

  5. i was into anything sports related when i was 11.  don't know anything about your son, but you can't go wrong with a football or baseball cake.  good luck

  6. Planning a party can be quite hard, especially if it's for a child. The fact is, most people today fail to realize just how much the preferences of children have changed. The days of cake, ice cream and clowns are long gone.

When you want to throw a boy's birthday party, for example, you should definitely plan it out carefully beforehand. Here are some great boy's birthday party ideas to help you:

    1. Superhero

Nothing quite captures a young boy's imagination than superheroes. If you choose to go with this boy's birthday party idea, then you need to do a bit of research. In the past, parents have been able to get away with faking a superhero birthday part by hiring someone to play "captain super amazing" or another such unknown.

However, you should realize that because of the resurgence of comic book movies, children are much more aware of which superheroes they would like to come to their party. If you are planning to make use of this boy's birthday party idea, you have to realize that you need to truly prepare for it since kids' expectations regarding superheroes can be quite high.

    2. Sports and Games

This boy's birthday party idea involves you actually taking the time to plan an outing and reserving a bowling alley, a paintball arena, or other types of sports places where you can hold a party while providing fun activities for the guests.

In implementing this boy's birthday party idea, you need to make sure that the guests and not just the celebrant will be able to participate in the activities. You also need to remember that inviting the guests for this type of party would require you to tell them what sort of activities are involved and what to wear.

    3. Costume

Everyone loves the chance to get to change their entire looks, especially kids. A great boy's birthday party idea would be a costume party. Remember to tell the guests if you are implementing this boy's birthday party idea as you do not want someone feeling left out.

You should also provide a place where people can change so that they may go to or leave from the party in ordinary clothes if they want to. Implementing this boy's birthday party idea may also require you to plan out some sort of contest or games which involves the children's costumes.

    Good Luck.

  7. You can do a fun and games party.

Set up a volleyball net and let them play vollyeball and badmitten.

Relay races.  Potato sack races, three legged races, etc. (you can even use old pillowcases for the sacks).

    Waterballoon fights.

Get an inflatable kiddie pool and fill it with water, break them into 2 teams and have a tug of war, the losing team ends up in the pool!

You can also do shave the balloon, which is just that, blow up the balloons, put on the shaving cream and see who can do it the most gentle without breaking their balloon, whoever does wins, if all of their balloons break, they all lose! LOL

You can also do a pie eating contest, BUT instead of pie, fill the tins with whipped cream, the person to finish first wins!

There's another game where you stand in a circle and toss a ball around the circle, the object of the game is to keep the ball IN the air and NOT drop it.  It doesn't matter what order they toss the ball in. Whoever drops the ball is out of the game and they keep going around and around until there's one person left standing, that's the winner!

You can also set up an ice cream bar. Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and marachino cherries and have them make their own sundaes.  You can go to the dollar store for the plastic sundae dishes or the grocery store and get waffle cone bowls.

You can also get a pinata.  All kids love candy and you can go to the party store and find one he likes and in the same aisle there's usually what's called pinata filler, which is just that, big bags of candy to fill them with.  Just make sure BEFORE doing this, you take a sharpie marker and write the kids' names on the bags that they're going to be collecting their candy in, otherwise they WILL be arguing over whose bag is whose at the end of the party!  When it comes to candy, there are arguments and this simple step of a sharpie marker to a ziplock bag saves all that stress!

For food, just go with his favorites.  If it's bbq, do burgers and hot dogs with some toppings and sides.  If it's pizza, send out for some pizzas, if it's tacos, set up a taco bar.  Do the same with the snacks and drinks.  Have water, soda, lemonade, and iced tea.  Ask him what he would like for the foods and snacks being it's his birthday and his party, he should have his favorite foods and the things he loves.

I hope some of these ideas help and that your son has a great party no matter what he does and that he also has a very Happy Birthday!

  8. if he in to baseball game you can pack a picnic and take a few of his Friend's to a ball game have a packed picnic and it will be a blast

  9. well it would really depend on what he was into but if you dont quite know then Pizza Put or and arcade would be a safe bet. Laser tag is always fun as is food. also you can usually go wrong with video games when it comes to boys

  10. My baby sister is 11 and would kill me if I even had a theme. Just get a cake-lots of candles (no numbers, what's the fun in that) that says happy birthday with his name on it. rent a movie you already told him he couldn't see, borrow a ghost story book from the library (or buy one) and make it a sleep over. At that age whatever extra fun they want to have, trust me they'll think of it themselves when they're all together. And don't supervise them past the movie. (I'm 26, in case you were curious) Oh, and they would have a lot of fun if you could find a blow up skeleton!
