Question:

Any ideas for a community service project on diversity?

My friends and I have to do a community service project for a competition whose theme is diversity. We brainstormed several ideas but we found a conflict with each of them. Raising more than $200 might be a problem, so please help us by thinking of a project that is low-budget and relates to diversity!

  1. Congratulations! Good citizenship begins when people get involved with their neighbors.

First, define diversity for your community; it is more than ethnicity. Consider age, religion, domestic relationships, economics. With the upcoming national elections, try a voter registration drive. It is a non-partisan activity and terrific way to serve the diverse population of your community. Your local election boards can give you free training and guidelines to make this project a success.  Good luck!

  2. Maybe you can draw up a questionnaire about peoples' personal lives to find the most diverse person. My guess is that the winner would be a  bi-racial L*****n vegetarian in a wheelchair.

  3. Use the Star Trek model

    Show people being United

    Be Open to other ideas

(unlike the Dems who say "diversity" but dont like yours).

    Hear others out.

    United Front to

    Clean homes

    clean streets

    remove graffitti

    Diverse cuisine day

    Fine arts event

    etc.

ALL Races united for 1 project.
