I lost my Uncle a little over a year ago. He was like a second father to me growing up. He and my aunt would always take me on vacation with them, since they did not have their own children. He would always play with me, and do whatever I wanted to do. He spoiled me! He always used to carry me around when I was younger, and our "thing" was the he would carry me at the reception on my wedding day. My wedding is now 2 months away and I have been thinking about him a lot. I really want to get a tattoo in memory of him, but am at a loss for what to get. He was a police officer for 30 years, a chief for some of those years. After he retired he loved cutting grass and planting flowers at the local golf course. He also loved to watch old western movies with John Wayne. Any ideas would be great!!

  1. I like the one idea that was posted ....she/he??! said to get his exct badge done....that would be totally cool and integrate the cherry blossom  with it.....like covering just the bottom right hand corner of the badge ...something like that......

  2. How about an interest you both shared? Something you guys bonded over.

  3. What about a portrait?

My uncle passed away a few years ago a week after my grandfather and I got sparrows on the tops of my feet for both of them.

  5. initials

i have one for my parents

    helps me remember:)

  6. Because he liked to garden... think about a cherry blossom tattoo, it's very feminine looking. It also represents the transience of life in japan. like a life ending too soon. I was also very close with my uncle and he passed away two yrs ago, and I've been wanting a tattoo also. In my case I've been putting a few different designs together to make one tattoo... Like my family is of Irish and Cherokee decent... and my uncle taught me how to draw butterflies when I was a little girl. So mine will be a butterfly with the body of a four leaf clover and tribal looking wings...and somewhere amongst the art of the butterfly I want his initials (TLC.) Good luck... and take your time, it's permanent!

  7. Not sure about the design, but what I did was get the Tatt in a location that was significant. His home town etc.

    Hope that helps.

  8. Get his initials. You can ask an artist to make them into a design you like.

  9. Have you considered a manbearpig?

  10. A police badge shape designed with an outline of a  border of flowers. Or his initials made with vines/flowers. Talk to the artist you will use to do your tattoo. They are usually full of good ideas and will work with you- if they are any good.

  11. get something other than a tattoo

  12. You could have "In Loving Memory of ..." with a quote from his favorite movie that relates to him or his personal quote.

  13. I have got a memorial tatto for myu friend who was in the army and died whilst serving. I have got a poppy with his regiment badge in it, and his name and his service number.

I like the cherry blossom idea, or his favourite flower with his police badge in it somehow.

You will think of something that is perfect. Get a tattoo artist to design you something.....

  14. okay, you should get HIS exact police badge, with his favourite flower either side and(or) maybe 2 western guns either side
