Question:

Any ideas for a "wisdom" poem?

I have to write a poem that looks similar to The Parable of the old Man and the Young by Wilfred Owen. This poem has the biblical story as a base and concludes with the "wisdom" about war. Does anyone have any ideas for this? It doesn't have to be biblical, and it can be about anything. Thanks.

  1. A man going on a long journey entrusted his servants with money

Giving one servant five talents, the second two and the third one talent

The servant with five put his money to work and made five more

The servant with two made two more and thought himself as gallant

The third servant knowing of his masters wicked ways dug a hole

He placed his talent there for safe keeping until his masters return

Arriving from his journey he praised the two servants with much gain

He gave them more responsibility's and enlistments they ever heard

When he learned what the third servant had done he was outraged

He kicked the servant to the streets into the darkness of night

The servant ran to the hole and dug up his talent taking it to the bank

With new found freedom and happiness, no slavery in sight

You can find the biblical reference to the poem above in Matthew 25:14-30. I always thought the biblical parable was a little off and like mine mush better concerning the Man working for the man instead of for himself.
