  1. Here are some songs/poems I know about dental health:

    *Got My Toothpaste

Got my toothpaste, got my brush,

    I won't hurry, I won't rush.

Making sure my teeth are clean,

Front and back and in between.

When I brush for quite a while,

I will have a happy smile!

*Brush Your Teeth (Tune: Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

    Brush your teeth,

    Brush you teeth,

    Give your teeth a treat.

Brush up and down and all around,

To keep them clean and neat!

    Brush them once,

    Brush them twice,

    Brush three times a day.

Brush up and down and all around,

    Keep cavities away!

*Brush Your Teeth (Tune: Row, Row, Row your Boat)

Brush, brush, brush your teeth, at least two times a day.

Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, fighting tooth decay.

Floss, floss, floss your teeth, every single day.

Gently, gently, gently, gently, whisking Plaque away.

Rinse, rinse, rinse y our teeth, every singly day.

Swishing, swishing, swishing, swishing, fighting tooth decay.

    *I Have a Loose Tooth

    A wiggly, jiggly  loose tooth

    I have a loose tooth

    A-hanging by a thread

So I pulled my loose tooth

    My wiggly, jiggly loose tooth

    Put it 'neath my pillow

and then I went to bed

The fairy took my loose tooth

    My wiggly, jiggly loose tooth

and now I have a nickel

and a hole inside my head

*Tooth Fairy, Tooth Fairy by  Patty McCaslin

    Tooth Fairy, Tooth Fairy

    When will you come?

    I've finally jiggled

    My tooth from my gum.

I'll put it 'neath my pillow

    When it is night,

I'll be under the covers, tucked in just right,

One last kiss and hug, then off goes the light.

    Here are some about health:

    *Healthy Way (Tune: Mulberry Bush)

    1. This is the healthy way we live

    2. This is the way we wash ourselves

    3. This is the way we comb our hair

    4. This is the way we brush our teeth

    5. This is the way we eat good foods

    6. This is the way we exercise

*Wash Your Hands (Tune: Row, Row Row Your Boat)

    Wash, wash, wash your hands

    Play our handy game.

Rub and scrub, and scrub and rub.

Germs go down the drain.  HEY!

    Wash, wash, wash your hands

    Play our handy game.

Rub and scrub, and scrub and rub.

Dirt goes down the drain.  HEY!

*Wash, Wash, Wash your hands (Tune: Skip to my Lou)

    Wash, wash, wash your hands,

    Wash, wash, wash your hands,

    Wash, wash, wash your hands,

    Wash with soap and water.

    Rinse, rinse rinse your hands,

    Rinse, rinse rinse your hands,

    Rinse, rinse rinse your hands,

    Rinse them under water.

    Dry, dry, dry your hands,

    Dry, dry, dry your hands,

    Dry, dry, dry your hands,

    Dry off all the water.

*Cough or Sneeze (Tune: Mary had a little lamb)

When you have to cough or sneeze, cough or sneeze, cough or sneeze,

When you have to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth please!

*I Need A Tissue!  (Tune: Old MacDonald)

I have myself a rotten cold

    AA-AA-ACHOO!

I have myself a rotten cold

    AA-AA-ACHOO

    I need a tissue, I need a tissue

I have myself a rotten cold

    AA-AA-ACHOO!

When I'm at school I catch my sneeze

(catch your sneeze in your arm)

    AA-AA-AACHOO!

When I'm at school I catch my sneeze

    AA-AA-AACHOO!

    I need a tissue, I need a tissue

To get rid of the germs I wash my hands

    Washy, washy, wash

So no one else will feel like this

    Washy, washy, Wash

    I need a tissue, I need a tissue

To get rid of the germs, I wash my hands

    Washy, washy, wash

When I go home, I take a rest

    Snooore

I find a warm place that I like to cuddle best

    Snoore

    I need a tissue, I need a tissue

When I go home, I take a rest

    Snooore, good night!

When I'm at school I catch my sneeze

    AA-AA-AACHOO

*Hand Washing Song  (Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Sing this song while washing. Helps with  proper hand washing skills. It takes about 30 seconds which is the amount of time one should take to allow antibacterial soap to do its job.

I can wash my hands you see,

Wash them clean as clean can be.

    Inside, outside, my fingers, too

Around my thumbs and then I'm through,

Now rinse away the dirt and stains,

Send those germs down the drain!

    *Bubbles

Back and forth until there's bubbles,

Back and forth until there's bubbles.

On the top until there's bubbles,

On the top until there's bubbles.

    In between and in between

And in between until there clean.

    Thumb, thumb, thumbkin twist,

    Thumb, thumb, thumbkin twist,

    Wring, wring around the wrist,

    Wring, wring  around the wrist.

    Now rinse those bubbles away.

*Sneeze Song (Tune: Farmer In The Dell)

I think --I am going to sneeze ..(ha chew!)

I think --I am going to sneeze ..(ha chew)

If you sneeze, pass the tissue please....

Ha Chew, Ha Chew, Ha Chew

  2. How about a skit or a story re-enactment of  the book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle?  It has alot of underlying themes, one of which is Good Food vs. Bad (Unhealthy/Junk) Food. One of the kids can be the caterpillar, and let other kids be the fruits, or the junk foods and re-enact the story as the caterpillar "eats" the foods according to the story.

Then as follow-up, u can have a cooking demonstration with your little chefs as the kids can make fruit salad (which is the good food in the story).

This is not a presentation, but other activities can be:

    1. a field trip to your friendly neighboorhood dentist

    2. doctor's visit to school (kids just love listening to the stethoscope)

  3. Handwashing or toothbrushing is always good to emphasize for preschoolers:

    Washing Hands

Molly suggests teaching children the importance of washing hands with this activity.

Materials: Bowl, water, soap and towel.

Description: Teachers get a bowl of warm water.  Show kids how to wash their hands making sure they cover the whole hand, in between fingers, etc.  Let the children practice washing their hands with soap and water.  Stress the importance of thorough  washing to get rid of all the germs.

    Hand Washing Finger Play

Five little fingers playing all day

    Getting really dirty

    Wash the germs away

Four little fingers catching a sneeze

    Needing some gel soap

    Just a squeeze please!

Three little fingers staying pretty clean

    Sneeze into your shoulder

    See what I mean!

Five little fingers happy to say

    We're clean and healthy

    Hip!  Hop! Hooray!

Also there's more info. and a skit here: http://www.henrythehand.com/pages_blocks...

  4. Try this: Take a paperplate,a tissue (like what you blow your nose with), glue and crayons.

Each child gets a paper plate and with the crayons puts a face on one side (their choice of sides), after their faces are complete, take the tissue and glue it near the nose and mouth. This is Mr/Ms Sneezy- Cough.

Explain to the children why it is so important to cover their noses and mouths when they cough and sneeze.

Here is the song to go with it:

When your head is stuffy and you feel so yucky,

and you have to sneeze all day ACHOO.

Then I am told that I have a cold,

and it makes me feel this way.

    ACHOO!

Another one is for washing hands:

Trace the childs hands (left & right) on construction paper and cut out (you may have to do this step). With white paper, make soap bubbles.

With both hands (cut outs), glue them to a craft or popcicle stick and put the paper bubbles at intervals between the hands and glue everything together.

Song: (To tune of Muffin Man)

This is the way we wash our hands,

Wash our hands, wash our hands.

This is the way we wash our hands,

To make them nice and clean.

v2: This is the way we rinse our hands,

rinse our hands, rinse our hands.

This is the way we rinse our hands,

    To wash away the germs.

The children should be shown the proper way to Handwash and encouraged to wash before/after lunch, and after trip to bathroom. You can do this with either with regular soap and water or with hand sanatizer (depending on childrens age).

    Good luck and have fun.

  5. I remember a song from way back at Girl Scout camp that you might could change some of the words. I don't know how to give  you the melody.

    Good morning Martha Johnson girls

Are your hands and face as clean as mine

    Good morning Martha Johnson girls

    Sure hope you're feeling fine

Say how did you sleep last night

Did you say your prayers   -(might need to change that!)

Did you start the day right

    Good morning Martha Johnson girls

Are your hands and face as clean

    Your conscience as serene as

Your appetite as keen as mine

    Oh yeah - Yeah!

    Maybe insert "boys and girls"

Maybe change religious part to "did you brush your teeth" or something
