Any ideas for a statement piece for my room

i am 17 and redoing my room, and the walls are lime green and cream. the only trouble is i cannot decide on what to add to the largest wall. I just want one main piece, it doesn't matter what the cost. i love all things nature and pretty images. I want it to be striking and i love art although i cant draw which i would love. i was thinking of getting the sense of a broken image with a few pictures which are seperated but which would complete a picture if you were to join them(not really sure how to explain) I also love my friends, family and pets so i dont know if i should base it around one of the them, or if i should do something in connection to my nanny who passed away. I am so stuck for ideas so if anyone could please help i would really appreciate it

thanks a bunch

  1. you don't need to be an artist to be creative. you can buy several large canvas's and decoupage pictures that you've printed off your computer right on to them. start my painting a base color on the sides of your canvas and using regular glue with a little water mixed in it. You can use cut up printed pics, colored tissue paper, lace, newspaper or magazine pages, greeting cards to name a few. The only limitation is your imagination. Seal your artwork with a spray acrylic when completed. Good Luck.

  2. try a feature wallcovering have a look here

  3. How about making a feature wall into a gallery of photo, notes, drawings, art etc that way it can always evolve.good luck

  4. After having read your post, an idea popped into my head.  Since the colors in your room are cream and lime, and your love nature, paint a tree on the wall.   Paint the wall lime green, and then use the cream to paint on teh tree.  I know you said you can't draw, but anyone can draw, especially a tree.  Make it look like a birch tree in winter (no leaves, just lots of branches.  Keep it stylized adn 2 dimensional (don't worry about bark details or any of that).  Make it large, and centered on the wall, with the trunk reaching down to the floor, and the branches extending over the width of the wall.  Next, cut photographs, magazine clippings, bits of interesting printed papers, etc. into the shapes of leaves and stick them on the "branches".  By using the things that are important to you, this could be your "family tree", dedicated to your nanny.
