Any ideas for a wedding in Corpus Christi in Feb 2009?

We are planning to get married Feb 09 but we are on a tight budget and not from this city. I have no idea what this city offers as far as wedding sites. We thought about just doing it on the beach but I'm not too sure about a Feb beach wedding. It will probably be too cool. We are only inviting around 10 people. Any ideas help.

  1. I think outside would be perfect.  The average temp for Feb is Corpus is between 50 and 70.  If you do it middle of the day (roughly 2pm), then the temperature should be very close to 70.  I think that's fine.  The closer you are to March the better.  In March, average temp is 76.  But if you are talking Feb 1st, Jan's average is 65 so I'd seriously consider inside for that.  As you are only talking 10 people, look at restaurants or night clubs.  You should be able to rent them out--or a room in them, fairly cheaply.  If you like the beach, I'd find a gazebo or something to shelter you from the wind a bit.  That may be the only problem.

  2. Please do not do a beach wedding in February.  I have been to the beach in Corpus Christi in March and it was very chilly.  While many people may think 50 to 70 is plenty warm, most Texans are freezing at that temperature.  It is just not what we are used to!  LOL...  If you want a beach wedding, you are better off to wait until later in the summer, after the Spring Breakers are gone.  As far as indoor venues, check The Knot or something like that to try to find good indoor options.  Good Luck!

  3. CC,my hometown.Well, around Feb it is chilly, but if its just ten of you,you can get married on the beach really fast and than rent out a hotel room for the reception.North padre island beach would be perfect and theres a Holiday Inn on the beach. To rent out the room would be $500.Just for the room. You get to put everything. The room ofcourse comes with tables and chairs. You can make your day really nice with only 10 people.Get some food from a restaurant, have someone go pick it up,instead of catering, will save you money.Buy everything like table cover, centerpieces, favors, etc from Target or Walmart. They got some nice wedding stuff.I thought about getting married where I'm telling you,but I live in Houston now and it just would be to hectic for us.But good luck and congrats.
