Any ideas for an effective homemade rat trap?

I have a rat problem, he is kinda starting to get on my last nerve..

It's a roof rat, and I don't want to spend any cash on this vermin..

Any ideas for a homemade rat trap?

and please, I don't want to deal with this rat alive, ugh..

You could go the boring way and get a trap or you could borrow a frinds cat/snake.

Deal with it humanely.

Bye a humane trap that only captures it and doesn't kill it as the killing ones are cruel and an animal shouldn't be killed for wandering about. It has more right to do that than us. Anyway....catch it humanely then let it go at the nearest park or even better a field. You have no right to kill it though just because it's there... I mean you wouldn't kill a dog because it walked onto your front garden would you? It's the same principle.

You should just go to the store and buy a trap, it shouldn't cost that much. Or else just burrow a gun and shoot it, lots of fun that way ;)

The best bait you should use is peanut butter, works way better then cheese.

I have the same problem. Mine is also a roof rat. I am going to buy one of those dollar cheap traps and put some cheese in it.
