Question:

Any ideas for burnout busting?

I work with some lovely people at a group home providing services for the mentally disabled. The owners of the facility are good people and we receive occasional praise us for the hard work we do.

We are preparing for a series of audits. Aside from the challenging work that our team does with the consumers, we now have paperwork and other stresses to deal with. As you might guess, none of us are unusually wealthy from our salary either.

I wish to keep our team loose. I foresee overwhelming stress coming our way. I am not creative enough to come up with possible solutions I ask you for any ideas to help us enjoy each other and what we do-so we could still enjoy doing what we do?

  1. A few years back I became involved in a health and wellbeing project at work.  Even simple things like providing a bowl of fresh fruit helped.  Also, once a week we had round circle, sit on the floor chat about what was bugging us and we organised a lunchtime walk which worked really well.  The main thing to remember is to keep it simple.  Keep up your good work!

  2. There are a few things people do to make themselves deal with a very stressful work environment....they play music, a contemporary music station, country, oldies or christian contemporary...

at my job people are allowed 2 fifteen minute breaks along with their one hour lunch...so frequent breaks whenever they need it is a plus.

On the personal side I have been able to fight a lot of stress with some things I have done ....drinking Black tea (the Chia type with cinnamon and ginger) almost cures stress or greatly eliminates it.

...something that helps but you have to try it but I drink one ounce of red-wine in the morning before going to work...its sounds strange but it strengthens and calms your heart at the same time...I am able to push myself harder at work.
