Question:

Any ideas for character names?

I'm writing a short story out of a dream I had last night, sort of to get it out of my system. However, I need help with character names. I don't usually have problems with this, but as the characters are basically myself and my boyfriend and some friends of ours, it's difficult for me to come up with anything but our own names.

I'm not looking for anything trendy or unique, just sort of... Ordinary but nice, I suppose. For example, my name is Brittany, and the name I chose for my character is Angie - nice, but normal. The only other two characters left are my boyfriend, whose name is Alex, and his friend David. I need names for these boys!

Can you guys help give me suggestions?

  1. for your:

    boyfriend: kyle

    his friend: devin

or if you would like you could switch them around

  2. Matthew, Michael, Nathaniel, Xavier, Benjamin, Thomas - Names from our family...

Specifically for Alex: Sander, Lex, Xander, Zander

  3. I think Maybe Ben for Alex and Ryan for David.

  4. I like to look up meanings for names and give characters names that relate to prevailing characteristics.  There are good meaning for simple names, too!

  5. Gavin

    Lucas

  6. Well, you could use names that remind you of their personalities... Or you could just use two random names, like Danny for David and Andy for Alex... Keith is a pretty cool name, so is Anthony, and even Michael is a pretty awesome name, lol. I'm curious though, when the story is done, what are you going to do with it?

  7. Can I suggest Angela instead of Angie? Sorry, I just prefer Angela.

    But anyway, how about...

    Eric

    Michael

    Evan

    Ben

    Owen

    Good luck!

  8. Greylan and Homer

  9. Andrew and Daniel?

    James and Tyler

    Matt and Taylor?

    Ryan and Chase?
