Any ideas for child's FANCY DRESS COMPETITION? For a 4 year old girl!!!?

My daughter (4 yrs) has to participate in a Fancy Dress Competition... I thought of a fairy princess, but was wondering if you would be able to suggest something more innovative and less common to dress her up in!

In addition to that, she has to also sing a small song etc. pertaining to the same costume! any ideas??

Also, I might add, I am unable to order in costumes from the internet / buy costumes... I will have to make the costumes from scratch, but im quite good at craft etc. so that shouldn't be too much of a problem, just need the IDEAS!!!

any and all help and ideas are more than welcome and greatly appreciated!!!!

How about something counter to the notion that girls should be pretty and it's how you look that is important?  How about downplaying the idea of competition among people who are just learning what it means to be part of society and encouraging cooperation?  Maybe she and a friend could work together to be dressed up as scientists or natives or something!  Watch how many of the costumes exploit s*x appeal even at this age.
