  1. Well if you're going racing you'll need a cage and five point harness. Add a fire supression system and you'll be safer than any Volvo on the road....

  2. Try this site..................

    http://slickstreetstuff.com/

  3. roll cage, 5 point harness, fuel cell, new suspension, racing slicks and helment

  4. Trade it for a 69 Judge.

  5. you will have to modify it to the racing circuit standards

  6. A lot of older models aren't equipped with seat belts. If you're racing, you'll want some nice over the shoulder harnesses in there to make sure you don't have to struggle to stay in your chair around corners anyway, but make sure they are also rated for safety. :)  You might also consider replacing the windows with tempered safety glass if it doesn't have it, since I know that it is a newer phenomena... but it might have been pre- 50's.... Other than that, I'm not sure if they put air bags in race cars, but it might be something to look into, cost wise... could save your life.

I also found this article that mentioned safety improvements done to one: "Lots of improvements have been made with safety in mind, including a brand new 16-gallon fuel tank and sending unit, new fuel lines and disc brakes all round.."  http://67mustangblog.com/?m=200707

Things you might not find in your 67 that newer models got:

"New for 1968 were better seat belts, dual-circuit brake system, energy absorbing instrument panel and steering column, and more. These improvements did much to improve the safety of the passengers."http://www.conceptcarz.com/v...

My, oh my! If you could install power steering! Would that baby hit turns more effortlessly?  I dunno.... ask a pro. :P Good luck!

  7. Collapsible steering column (don't know if they're allowed for racing).

If you can't do the collapsible column, maybe a deep dish collapsible steering wheel. Either of these will help prevent you from being impaled/stabbed by the steering column.

    Racing seats with integral harness.

    roll cage.

  8. Well ! , Any vehicle (no matter new or classic) that is use to RACE is un-safe !

Building a race car is all about precaution, therefore every possible safety measures are to be installed before HP is considered.

The top priority is to strip the whole unit out and start to build the roll cage. Next in line, you had to build the fuel line and tank with certain fire proofing material around the tank area. Next, the wiring system should be redirect in such a way that it is not hazardous or prone to catch fire if an accident occurs. Also you need to get someone who can calibrate a braking system for your racing machine, a good pair of racing bucket seats are essential with racing safety belts.

A redesigned collapsible steering rod is next to live saving essentials & not to mention suspension system need to be recalibrate & redesign. The rest need to be redesigned too & there are alot of mumbo jumbo.

Lastly, the choice of engine tuned is to allow to calibrate with the weight of the vehicle. Building a race car needs a lot of money, so therefore do not be surprised that amount will simply exceed buying a new car.

SAFETY + HP - WEIGHT  = RACE CAR
