Any ideas for what I could do for my Girl Scout Gold Award?

I volunteer at two National Parks (one is Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland where the Star Spangled Banner - the national anthem - was written) and I did my Silver Award with one of them. I'm thinking that since I personally know at lot of the people and rangers at both parks (including the superintendent) that I could do my Gold Award with something related to the park or parks.

I think doing something with them would be great but I don't know what I could do. If anyone could come up with some possibilites or guesses that would be helpful! Thank you!

  1. She's right about asking them what they need, but remember, you can't raise any money for another organization.

Explain to them what you are required to do for the Gold and how many hours you have to commit and I am sure they can tell you directly what is needed.  Maybe it's help cleaning up a stream or campsites, etc.   Let them lead you.

  2. Ask them what they NEED.  Then do that.  IF they need a new sign for the park, raise money to buy one.  If they need more volunteers, go to different youth groups to recruit people.  Ask them ...they know what they need.  Volunteering is giving someone what they need, not what you want to give.
