Question:

Any ideas how I can make a spark?

I have this "magic" wallet that can catch on fire and turns into a regular wallet again. Well, the mechanism that creates the spark broke (much like a cigarette lighter), and I was wondering if there was something I could rig up to make a spark. Here is a picture of what I am talking about and have circles the spark thing. Also, is there a way I can rig something up that I can press a button and creates a spark?

  1. The simplest, longest lasting and most unbreakable way to make a spark is by striking some metal against a piece of flint.  For campers you can purchase an emergency fire starter which consists of some flint glued to a hand sized piece of magnesium.  Magnesium burns easily when you make the spark.

For your application I recommend buying one of those long lighters at the grocery that are designed for starting your barbecue.  If you take it apart you will find two electric wires and a battery and a button. Push the button.  Get a spark.  Be careful.  Make sure there is at least one mature adult around.  Know what you are doing.  Wear eye protection.  Have a fire extinguisher handy.  Get permission.

  2. The picture is a bit dark .

do you need an electronic spark or mechanical ?

piezo lighter from a bbq grill makes an electric spark.

Coleman lanterns had an optional spark igniter that you twist the k**b and flint like sparks are emitted ,like a bik lighter

  3. I don't know anything about a wallet on how to make it spark, but I do with a grape

IF YOU DON'T HAVE INSURANCE OR DON'T WANT TO BREAK YOUR MICROWAVE, THEN DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!

Slice a grape in the middle, then put in the microwave and heat it up for a couple of seconds...A spark of light will show, while it's heating.

A grape has acids in it, so while it's heating it makes a chemical reaction, which makes it spark.

  4. It's difficult to see much detail in your picture, but I would suggest your best bet is to cannibalise a kitchen / candle or cigarette lighter.  Some contain a piezo crystal which requires fairly substantial pressure on a button to activate it, but others are battery operated which only require a touch and therefore might be more suitable for what you want.  See
