I already take him for loads of walks etc but am looking for fun, age appropriate stuff to help him burn off all his energy

  1. Let him or her be your "helper" and let him know what a big help they are being.  It could be anything little!  Also, let them stack cups, play with blocks, read a book to them, put on a puppet show... there are endless possibilities.

  2. My son is 19 months.  When we can't go outside, I'll let him play in the bath tub.  I'll sit by the tub and we have bath crayons, so we write.  I'll put bubbles in there too.

Other times we get out a crayon and paper.  I'll put him in his high chair and let him "color".  We read books and talk about what we see.

Other than that, we just get on the floor and play!

  3. Ball pond.. they are so cheap to buy, and the balls are also cheap as chips. My daughter used to love playing in there and its fun for you to as you can sit beside him and just mess about, its great...

  4. Throw a cover over the table and play tents. You can have a picnic in there as well.

  5. soap bubbles are fun! you could set up a little bucket of water and take everything but his nappy off and play with different toys in the water.

play hide and seek. run around chasing each other. go light spotting and let him turn them all on and off. get a ball and kick it back and forth to each other.

find a toy and hide it in different obvious places and he can then "find" them and bring them to you.

  6. Have him put away all of his laundry.  One article of clothing at a time.

I would sort the laundry on one end of the house and have my daughter put her clothing away one piece of clothing at a time (her room was on the other end of the house).  It was so funny because she thought she was doing something so big.  I'd give her a shirt and I'd say "put this shirt in your closet (yes it went on the floor), put these socks in your drawer"  She'd do this all day long.  It was so much fun, for me anyway.

  7. my daughter is 10 months and i let her play with a ball or walk around with her.educational games are good too, such as reading books, have him follow you throughout the house.hide and seek .peek-a-boo.

  8. -Dancing to DVD or Cbeebies

-Cooking together-he can help stir, ice and then eat :)

-Play in the bath tub-lots of toys, jugs, bubbles etc!

-Take ball out on field or in back garden.

    -Play together with his toys!

  9. Dance. to anything. show him different dance moves and let her imitate you. do the hokey pokey so she learns to wiggle different parts of her body. jump up and down to music. crawl. spin around. jump up and down counting one to ten. stretch up as high as he can.

also, play doh or finger paints or any craft where it doesn't matter if they make a mess. sing songs. read books. play in the bath. make instruments out of pots and pans or anything that he can bang on. make a block tower as tall as he is.
