Any ideas how to get message oil out of carpeting?

My dog got a hold of a bottle of the KY warming message oil and it got all over my indoor/outdoor carpeting. It left big oil spots. How could I get those out?

I'd try dawn dishwashing detergent and a lot of hot water-rinsing...a wet dry vac would be useful here to pull up the excess water. another idea is to use the same soap with a *steam* cleaner to extract the soap, water, and oils.
