  1. I sort of play nanny to my five year old brother (my stepmother is 27)  and I asked the teacher what would be a good idea.   She pretty much gave me a list , I' ll copy it here for you.

A trinket from a family vacation

A photograph of a pet , with something small that pet uses/likes

A favorite toy (make sure the child knows NOT to play with it in school)

A favorite foreign/specialty food  (imported candy, special pastery)

    A Christmas/holiday ornament (package carefully)

A small bottle of sand/dirt from the childs favorite place

A book (keeps it educational, even if the child cannot read it himself)

Their favorite person (just let me know before hand :-)

A clipping from a plant/flower that holds special meaning

An article of clothing that is special

For Girls-  Their favorite jewelry (parents, please bring this in yourself)

A photograph (pictures speak a million words!)

    Something the child made himself

If dad/mom is deployed overseas , a uniform peice (medals, hats etc)

A flag of their heritage (if they know about it)

    A favorite stuffed animal

Baby articles (first hair clipping , baby blanket)

If they love swimming , a pool float or shells

    A tool/object from mommy/daddy's job

    A favorite movie/cd

Anything is possible, just please use caution ,  small hands don't always understand "fragile"!  Also , if something needs to be brought in by a parent or to arrange having a guests as show and tell , please contact me.

  2. a sports trophie

    teddy bear

    a doll

  3. anything she wants. Just ask her what she would like to take and show her new friends. It can be a toy, a photo, a picture. The whole idea is to introduce her to public speaking in front of an audience

  4. i've helped out with show and tell before. most kids talk about their favourite toys, a picture they've drawn, a brochure of where they've been, a lego toy they've made, a photo of their holiday, a bracelet or souvenir from holiday, a story book they like and retell the story to the class...

it's not too big a deal, i've seen kids talking about water bottles and pencils before (!)

  5. Some ideas are:

A toy that she's had for a while (e.g. since she was born)

    Souvenirs from fun vacations

A favorite thing, like a pretty (not to special, she may loose it!!) piece of jewelry.

A drawing/painting that she did herself

  6. she can bring in her favourite stuffed animal,

or some sort of souvenir from vacation, like a rock or a really cool looking seashell.

  7. I remember taking my favorite stuffed animal numerous times to show and tell.

My oldest daughter (7) has taken her dolls, stuffed animals, horses (toys of course), pictures, sea shells, necklaces...pretty much anything she thinks is cool. My youngest just started kindergarten this year and absolutely does not want to bring anything, which I can't understand.

I definitely wouldn't bring a pet or something like that. Most schools don't want the kids to bring anything of value, whether monetary or sentimental value, and also nothing that can't fit into their back-packs.

    I hope I helped!!

    Good luck!

  8. Maybe her favourite Teddy or toy.

  9. Maybe her favorate stuffed animal or toy.

  10. Artifacts(arrowhead) souvineer from a vacation

  11. A toy, doll, book, photo, picture she colored/painted.. whatever she enjoys and is proud of and likes to talk about.

  12. Her favourite book

  13. she could take a pic of her on vacation or something and explain that, or she could her fav toy or movie.

hope this helps, good luck finding something

  14. All you need to do is just have her bring in her favorite toy or favorite anything. She would have plenty to say about it. Or you could have  her make something that she could be proud to share. If you want to get involved it was always fun at school when people brought in their pets but parents have to come in with pet and take it home.

  15. My kids always loved to bring in pics of their pets, baby pics, or of them doing something interesting, like a baseball game or a fun vacation. Trophy's were always a big hit too. The weirdest thing one of my kids took in was a bass that he caught and we had mounted...lol.

  16. What is not interesting to you, might be very interesting to a Kindergardener.  A picture taken during a vacation, a pretty stone picked up at the park where you had spent the day together, seashells, a jar of pretty buttons, pictures of a cat or dog.  Young ones aren't hard to impress.  Just pick something out before your container of birth control pills become the topic of conversation when your daughter takes them in for show N tell.  LOL
