  1. for table set up make sure to have tablecloths- that really makes a fancier look. call a local party rental place and see how much they charge for pick-up of some table cloths and long (or round) tables and chairs (they usually charge a lot to deliver  so if you know someone with a truck that can help out would save you some$) I prefer round tables since they look fancier...but your yard may not have the room? you can also find some inexpensive old flat sheets in pastel colors at the thrift stores to use as additional table coverings to add some splash of pastel- just trim them up so it doens't look like and old sheet, and maybe sew a new hem and throw them on top of the white rented table cloths...otherwise see how much more to rent colored table cloths. have some kind of centerpieces- maybe a simple glass vase from the dollar store with candles in them or some real flowers bought in bulk from Sams Club or someplace. here are some ideas for table set up http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=...

skip the potluck idea....maybe only have close family memebers supply a dish. to make it look more put together you can rent some silver serving trays that all match or those chafing dishes to keep items warm. put it all out on a long table (don't forget the table cloth!). have a seperate table for gifts and the cake or dessert table. balloons are a great cheap decoration to snaz the place up- you can rent the helium tanks and blow them up youself- make bunches on long ribbon as taller displays. hang white christmas lights up all over the yard for a starry night look- looks real pretty when you staple icicle lights under the table cloths on the buffet/cake/head table/and present table- borrow extras form friends and family if you need more! the more the better for a great night time look.

for dinner how about different pasta dishes- have the different noodles and all different meats and sauces along with fresh green salad and bread! pretty easy and cheap but still seems real fancy! otherwise fried chicken and mashed potatoes...salad and other sides maybe. start checking around to local places and just see what you can get deals on! make sure to splurge on the good disposable plates and cutlery though!

  2. One thing you should not do is ask people to bring food to your wedding. I know things can get a little pricey, but there are many ways to save when preparing alot of different foods for many people. Definitely go with a Buffet style meal. You will want a meat, vegitable, salad and then many deserts and fingerfoods. You can go with a Chuck steak, or a Roast and slow cook so then you have a Pulled pork type dish. Then a Regular Salad and maybe some Mixed Vegies or Asparagus. Marinate your Asparagus in Butter and Seasoning then bake or Fry them in Olive oil to make them a little crunchy but awsome. Finger Foods and Deserts can be anything.....Good Luck!

  3. have a lua - so much fun. and have a hawaiin buffet
