  1. Why fake it, if you need a day of so be it.

I have no doubt your mom can find plenty of chores for you to do, so many in fact, it makes doing your school work, or going to your school look good, very good indeed....

This is the home school section child, we have no need to skip school.

  2. Find something better to do. Your mum may not mind you putting aside your maths for today if you clean the house and cook dinner.

  3. Yep...drop dead. That's about the only way those of us who are homeschooled (and this *is* the homeschooling board in case you didn't notice) would ever get to skip school, at least in our house. Either that or run away from home and start supporting yourself (but that does seem a little drastic, lol).

("You'll feel better once you're out in the fresh air, doing something" that's my mum's stock answer when we are sick, leave alone 'faking' and, of course, 'doing something' in my mum's mind really translates as "you'll feel better once you're out in the fresh air, doing your chores. So, get up and get out there!")

Anyway, if going to school is so wonderful, as people are always coming in here to tell those of us who don't, why on earth would you want to fake illness so you can wag going? Seems to me that us homeschoolers are supposed to swallow the line fed to us by schoolkids that school is brilliant, there is so much to do, you get to hang out with your mates all day long, you have 'proper' teachers etc...and then what? We get schoolkids like you, turning up here, telling us you want help to wag the 'great experience' that is school, the 'great experience' that, as homeschoolers, we're all supposed to feel deprived of and grieve for!

Plus if you get a reputation with your mum for trying it on by pretending to be crook when you're not, she's going to be less inclined to believe you when you really are sick so what's the point in that?

'Course you could always talk to your mum (as some of the mums here are suggesting you do), y'know: do something radical and mature and just be honest and open with her and talk to her instead of riding roughshod over her and your relationship by deceiving her and lying to her and shutting her out (she was a kid too y'know and, who knows, she probably wagged school a few times too, lol!)

  4. watch the first scene of ferris bueller's day off.

    changed my life.

  5. And you're asking this in the homeschool section why?

    Edit:

Aww, thanks for the lovely email below:

If you'll actually read my answer, you'll notice that I didn't get down on you at all for skipping.  I simply asked why you're asking in the homeschool section, which is populated mostly by homeschool students and parents.  Because homeschooling can be done anywhere, it's physically impossible to skip.

If you need a day off, tell your mom you need a day off.  If you're determined to skip, ask in a forum where people actually do that.  And next time you want to shoot your mouth off to a complete stranger...suppress the need.

  6. Are you skipping school or what?

If your faking it then idk..

  7. I agree with that guy. Ferris had it. lol.

Girl... Just learn to forge, lol. THat's what I did. If my mom had ever had to actually sign anything in high school, they would've thought her real signature was fake for all the times I forged a note. I was constantly "having appointments" senior year... lol.
