Any ideas on gift for daycare teachers?

My son has been at this daycare for over a year, and we are moving away this week. It is a large centre and I can't afford to get gifts for all the teachers but am wondering if anyone has nice ideas for a group gift? Chocolates just seem so overdone...

  1. What about something for the class?

I don't agree with daycares, so I have never been inside one, but what about something all the teachers could use or kids could play with.

Maybe just a worlds best teacher something or other.

  2. A handmade portrait would be a nice present for all the teachers. Take a look at http://www.paintyourlife.com

They have wonderful gift ideas done around photos.

They also do wonderful photo-printing on canvas in different designs. Please take a look at http://www.photo-print-on-canvas.com for more information.

  3. My husband taught kindergarten for ten years.  I discussed your question with him and here are his/our ideas for a group gift for the teachers:

Joint gift-cards for any of the following:  Borders or a similar local bookstore, local art-supplies store, teacher-supplies store and/or local toy store.  You could even purchase a joint gift-card for stores like Target that carry a lot of school supplies, art supplies, toys/games etc.

The teachers could then meet as a group (or in several small groups) and plan/discuss how to spend your gift.  Good luck with your move!

P.S.  If your daycare is anything like my husband's school was, avoid buying any coffee-mugs for any of the teachers.  My husband and his colleagues received many mugs from students and their families as gifts over the years.  While they were all certainly appreciated, it got to the point where we had way more mugs than we could ever need.

  4. a nice bunch of fresh flowers for the room would be nice

  5. wasn't the check you wrote out every month enough?  donate a random toy or supply they may need.

  6. I have lots of friends that are teachers and daycare providers...all of them agree if you make something (food) it goes into the trash. Most don't eat anything a parent cooks unless there is a personal relationship....have your son make a card for his teacher and may be flowers for the reception area (it's a great time of year for fresh cut flowers)...

  7. A money clip will do the trick! It's very convenient and handy. Check this out http://www.executivegiftshoppe.com/money... they have a wide range of choices for your gift needs.

  8. I don't think that I would buy all the teachers something, just the one that takes care of your son and I would probably get a gift card for something to pamper her, like getting her nails done or a massage or something.
