  1. The difference being how air/fuel is introduced into the cylindar for combustion.  To show this you might get a couple of cardboard cylindars and cut a hole in the side of one of them to indicate this difference from the 4-stroke which has the valve on the top to let air/fuel in and exhaust out.

  2. The easiest way would be to have 2 cutaway display engine blocks.. one of them 2 stroke and the other a 4 stroke.... This is what they have in most small engine classes so you can see the internal workings without actually taking it apart... But it would be next to impossible to get one of these blocks unless you know of a class that is getting replacements or is dropping the class therefore no longer needs it. You do have the option of finding 2 dead engines and partially taking them apart to display them, but then again you really can only see certain areas of the engine. Be sure to mention in the display that 2 stroke engines use a gas/oil mix and do not have a separate oil sump for oiling, where 4 stroke uses straight gas and does have a oil sump with a oiling system.  Good luck

  3. Are you describing just the MECHANICAL differences, or also the environmental / emissions differences ??

Well, the SIMPLEST means is to make drawings... by hand, or by drafting, or better yet by an engineering AutoCad program.

When I was a Navy Instructor back in 1992 (Anti Submarine Warfare), we taught classes on the actions of 2 and 4 stroke diesel engines... I upgraded the class by creating a simple animated engine with an old AutoCad Program. We also created graphics for different transmission systems: Plantetary, Barrel, and Simple.

I wish I could recall the name of the software... but here are some current programs & books that should help:

    GOOD LUCK !!
