Any ideas on how i can make the geared tuning and what strings to use in ukulele?

  1. Unless you're a tool and die maker and have a machine shop, those geared tuners are going to give you nightmares. Just use the old fashioned friction-fit pegs as shown in the following examples:

    If you MUST have geared tuners, you can probably find some used for just a few bucks.

    As for the strings, monofilament line works well. Keep in mind you'll need several different gauges... try fishing line, nylon sewing thread, and the spooled mono line you often find in weed trimmers.

    This sounds like a great undertaking, but a fun project and I wish you every success!
