  1. They often bend the rules for fruit pickers, as there's a labour shortage.   The reason being that the pay isn't all that great and it's often hard to find accommodation.   Which country do you come from and what is your first language?   Try a firm called Farm Key, which fixes farm workers up with jobs in NZ.   And our Immigration Dept. has a list of job skills which are in demand in NZ, which is updated every 6 months.   Not all these jobs are highly skilled.   And if you want to spend a few cheap months in NZ checking the country out, try WWOOFing (Willing Worker On Organic Farms).   You hitch hike around NZ staying on organic farms.   You work for a few hours a day in exchange for your board.

  2. Swim.

  3. Come over for six months on your passport... then fall in love (or not) marry a New Zealand national and bobs your uncle!

Its very cold here at the moment... think twice.  The grass is not always greener on the other side, just different.

Good luck... and no I am already married :-)

  4. Depends on your age and adaptability, good start is to go for long time seasonal work - fruit picking and look around a bit. Best is come here as student and later apply for the status. Be carefull NZ is a biggest village on the world and not all is the best.

My immigration in this country was a biggest mistake of my life - this country will be economically and culturally death soon. Maori causing similar problems like black people in South Africa.

  5. Practically impossible!!! I've checked myself and it seems you need to have a degree or have a required trade to do so.

Basically you have a lot of form filling to do. It's best to speak to the NZ immigration services - they'll help you out.
