Any ideas on how to get this digital converter box to get better picture and sound?

I have had this digital box for 4 months now and I had it on for about 1 week then got so annoyed I shut it off in hopes it would get better. I replugged it in and it still stinks, any suggestions. I want to get the smart antenna but they don't sell it yet. Please help.

What antenna do you have now?

If you don't have a roof antenna (I have mine balancing on some boxes in the attic), that will most likely help.  

Before that, you can check to make sure that you are aiming the antenna you have at the stations you want to watch.  The links below will help you  figure out where they are.

By the way, are you sure the converter you got can deal with a smart antenna?  Most can't.....

Smart antennas let you change directions the antenna is looking in without turning anything....but I think a regular old style tv antenna has more gain....so, if you dont need to turn it, I think the old style roof antenna will be better for you.
