Any ideas on how to rid lawn of toadstools

  1. Your lawn must be quite damp/wet for this to be happening.

    You could aeriate the lawn to help dry it out or put a field drain into it.

  2. toadstools are fungi. tehy live on decaying organic material like tree roots from dead trees that are just below the surface.

    knock them over as soon as you see any. they will not have as much chance to ripen and release spores.

    if your lawn has a really heavy thatch layer, de-thatching might help.

  3. Fungus is an element of healthy soil. I'd just leave them.

  4. Use a fungicide spray or neem oil spray to control the toadstool fungi. Just knowcking them over or pulling them out won't fully solve the problem, because leftover spores will just redevelop into toadstools when the conditions are right (warm and moist).

  5. Not good news I'm afraid.

    There is currently no chemical control for 'Fairy Rings' of fungi.

    The only known cure is to remove all the soil eight inches deep and for 20 inches either side of the ring. Replace with fresh top soil and reseed.
